St. George’s, June 21, 2010 – Residents of the Carenage have committed to working together to deliver social, educational, sporting and cultural services to members of the community.

The Carenage Organisation for Recreation and Entertainment (CORE) will meet regularly to coordinate “community initiatives at the micro level.’’
CORE, in its mission statement, says it aims to build a “positively vibrant community on the Carenage and surrounding areas for residents of all ages.’’
The membership of CORE comprises individuals, as well as representatives from groups such as Republic Bank Angel Harps Steel Orchestra and Carenage United Sports Club.
Three members of CORE – David Seales, Claudia Halley and Lincoln Toro Depradine – have been commissioned to draft a series of activities for the group.
They have suggested the launch of CORE at a games’ evening on July 24, the undertaking of a Back-to-School supplies’ program in September, and a fun day in October.
Other long-term projects of the group are expected to include skills’ training for youth, an adult steelpan learners’ program, and  “Moonlight Serenade’’ concerts featuring Angel Harps.
The next meeting of CORE will be on Thursday, July 15.
