Today’s Civil Society Speaks, which has been pre-recorded, is the last programme that will be hosted by Mr. Ray Roberts.  Mr. Roberts has let down his   bucket into the political well  and has announced his intention to contest the South St. George’s seat under the banner of a political party.

As one who has dedicated over 25 years of his life as a workers’ representative, most recently as the workers’ representative in the Senate, he has joined a  number of illustrious  representatives  before him who transitioned from the labour movement and went on to serve Grenada in the political arena.  In our  most recent history, we have had Ms. Claris Charles, who has since retired from front line politics and now serves as Grenada’s Ambassador to Cuba, and most recently, Sen. Chester Humphrey, whom Ray succeeded as the labour representative in the Senate.

Ray has lent his support to the various initiatives of the Grouping of Civil Society, either in his capacity as the focal point for the labour sector or in his individual capacity.    In his individual capacity, he lent his support to the programme, Civil Society Speaks, launched by Chime FM Grenada in August 2014 and hosted by the Grouping of Civil Society Organisations.  He has been its host/moderator over the past three years.

The Grouping of Civil Society Organisations extends its sincere appreciation to Ray for his contribution to  the programme Civil Society Speaks and wishes  him well as he transitions to this new phase of his service to the people of Grenada.  We also thank Chime FM which has generously facilitated this space and voice over the last three years and the very many guests who have appeared on the programme.
