A RETURN TO FRONT LINE POLITICS?
Written by George Grant on July 11, 2017
A former minister of Agriculture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is seriously considering a return to front line politics. Jocelyn Whiteman is not satisfied with the level of representation provided by the current MP for St. David, Oliver Joseph, and is determined to ensure that he doesn’t get re-elected.
Although Whiteman is a friend of Joseph and believes that he is one of the better ministers of government in the Caribbean, he feels that the incumbent leaves a lot to be desired as a Parliamentary Representative. He has made it clear that if Joseph runs again, he (Whiteman) will contest the poll.
Whiteman has held stints such as Grenada’s High Commissioner to London, and Grenada’s first ambassador to China. He is confident that he has the public’s support and says that Joseph has personally told him that he enjoys being a minister of government, but does not enjoy being the parliamentary representative.
