DIGICEL AND NBA TO BRING JUMPSTART BASKETBALL CLINICS TO THE CARIBBEAN FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR

CASTRIES – Digicel and the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced today that Digicel NBA Jumpstart Basketball Clinics will return to the Caribbean for the second consecutive year.  The clinics, which tip off in Bermuda on Aug. 26, will bring together more than 500 boys, local coaches and for the first time girls, from nine Caribbean countries.  At the conclusion of the clinics, the top seven players in each market will be selected to attend the Digicel NBA Jumpstart Elite Camp in the British Virgin Islands on Oct. 7 – 9, 2016.

GRENADA SAILING WEEK COMING SOON

St. George -- The next edition of the Island Water World Grenada Sailing Week has been set to run from January 30 to February 4. The week-long event will begin at the Grenada Yacht Club on Monday with a skippers briefing and will include four days of racing.

CONRAD FRANCIS' INTERVIEW

Chef de Mission of Team Grenada for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Conrad Francis has described as one of the better performances of Grenada since the island started participation in the Olympic Games in 1984. He said the overall performances of the athletes surpassed the 2012 Games, even though Grenada won a gold medal in London.

His name ought to be vividly displayed in the brightest colors on this iconic structure donated to Grenada by the Government and People of China and will unquestionably inspire this generation of young people and many others in their pursuit of excellence in sport and other endeavours.

GRENADA LEAVES RIO WITH HIGH HOPES

Kurt Felix believes the exploits of Grenadian Decathletes will encourage more young Grenadian athletes to participate in the multi-events."We definitely have talent back at home and with what we're doing here, there'll be athletes back home who have the potential to surpass what we're doing right now," he said.Felix, who placed ninth in the Men's Decathlon at the Rio Olympic Games, also wants the multi-events to be included in the annual Inter-col championships.
