FORMER PRIME MINISTER, SIR NICHOLAS BRATHWAITE TRANSITIONS

St. George -- Grenada begins its post-Thanksgiving weekend by mourning the passing of former Prime Minister, Sir Nicholas Brathwaite. Sir Nicholas had been ailing for several years now, but deteriorated within the last two weeks.

The transition occurred at his residence in the Villa at 11:30 pm on Friday.

Sir Nicholas was born in Carriacou in 1925 and was a member of the National Democratic Congress. Following the 1983 invasion of Grenada by the United States, he was appointed by then Governor General, Sir Paul Scoon to re-establish the government of Grenada. He became prime minister and chairman of the advisory council in December 1983.

PRINCE HARRY'S VISIT TO THE CARIBBEAN

St. George -- As previously announced HRH Prince Harry will undertake an official visit to the Caribbean, on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen in November and December 2016, on the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of Independence in Antigua and Barbuda, and the 50th Anniversary of Independence in Barbados and Guyana.

PAUL JOHN VERE SLINGER, OBE

Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, coach and mentor to many, Paul Slinger died on Friday, October 21st 2016 surrounded by family at his home, "The Tower" in St Paul, after a long illness. He was 82.

I swear Matthew getting directions to Jamaica from a Jamaican because all now him cyaa reach.....
Jamaica is up the road, make a right after the big breadfruit tree, pass Maas Birdie shop then make a left a di gungo tree, walk likkle bit pass di cemetery and then you see a piece of red bush cross di road don't walk pass because it a crosses.  And keep straight til yuh a see a Miss Meg a pick ackee, dont beg har none.  Shi mean like di star apple tree weh shi siddung unda.  Memba fi keep straight den mek a lef right deh.  Suh a Jamaica!
