Ray Roberts, Caretaker-to-be for the Constituency of St. George South.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) South St. George Constituency Branch will, on Sunday, August 27, stage a public endorsement of journalist/trade unionist Ray Roberts as its Caretaker/Candidate to contest the next General Election.

The Endorsement takes place following a Family Fun and Entertainment afternoon at the beloved Camerhogne Park.

Roberts, Labor’ Representative in the Senate – has already announced that he will resign from the Upper House to be fully engaged with the almost ten thousand voters in the Constituency.

A former career public servant, Roberts spent the last four years in the senate articulating a number of workers’ issues such as the reinstatement of public servant pensions and the proliferation of contract labour in the public service, as well as leading the campaign against the government’s 2016 Budget announcement to relocate Camerhogne and sell the current site to a foreign investor for the construction of a hotel.

Campaign Manager for the NDC’s South St. George, Terry Moore says the Constituency strongly endorses Senator Roberts as man of excellent character who is passionate and committed to the cause of citizens, noting his many years of contributions to the South and Grenada.

Among the activities leading up to the public endorsement of Senator Roberts is an Ex-tempo shootout which will be open to all interested calypso artists and persons attending Sunday’s event.

The Ex-tempo shootout requires artists to spontaneously respond to topical issues. Participants will be judged by persons selected from the audience at Camerhogne Park.

Sunday’s endorsement will also feature political leader Senator Nazim Burke and other Caretakers
