COMMONWEALTH SHORT STORY PRIZE
Written by Commonwealth Writers on September 12, 2017
You’re being invited to participate in the Commonwealth Short Story competition. A prize will be awarded for the best piece of unpublished short fiction (2,000 – 5,000 words) in English. Regional winners will receive £2,500 and the overall winner receives £5,000.
Stories translated into English are eligible, and this year entries are being invited in the original languages of Bengali, Chinese, Kiswahili, Malay, Portuguese, Samoan and Tamil.
In 2017 the prize attracted nearly 6,000 entries from 49 of the 52 Commonwealth countries, up from 2,000 entries from 42 countries in 2012. This year we are eager to increase our breadth of entries and encourage more entries from countries who are less aware of the opportunity.
More entries from writers in Grenada will help to bring a more inclusive range of narratives to the attention of an international audience.
