2012 TECHNOLOGY EXPOSITION (TEXPO)

St. George -- The Ministry of ICT – Office of the Prime Minister, in its thrust to raise awareness of the pivotal role that Information and Communications Technology (ICT) continues to play in the transformation of the very core of human existence, has embarked on an annual Technology Exposition (TEXPO).

TEXPO is the Grenada brand of the CTU Caribbean ICT Roadshow which took place in May 2011. The Government then took the decision to make this initiative an annual one.


The theme for TEXPO 2012 will be, “Connecting Communities through Emerging Technologies,” with the tag line – Think technology.”

 

The Government of Grenada is pleased to host TEXPO 2012 in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) and the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) – an event which is being tailored to reflect the national circumstances and leverage the transformative power of ICT. The initiative will address the following:

 

1. ICT capacity building
2. ICT innovation and entrepreneurship
3. Building ICT policy and regulatory capacity
4. Creating opportunities through networking
5. Promoting knowledgeable communities
6. Encouraging collaborative work in ICT
7. Fostering responsible use and ICT innovation

 

TEXPO 2012 is designed to expose Grenada, Carriacou, Petite Martinique and the wider region to new and emerging technologies, and the promotion of sustainable economies through open communities. The activities and initiatives are designed to foster a spirit of innovation in ICT development and to highlight local ICT innovation.

 

TEXPO will be held from May 17 to 19, 2012, with an official opening ceremony on the morning of May 17, 2012, at 9:00 AM at the Grenada Trade Centre Annex.

 

The Secretariat invites you and your associated companies and businesses to participate in the general interest Forums. Of particular interest should be Session 1, Policy Makers and Regulators; Session 2; Internet Governance; Session 3, Technology Briefs; and Session 6, Cyber Security.

 

Programme Overview

TEXPO’s programme is carefully designed to achieve the objectives outlined, with sessions which are very interactive, providing opportunities for discussion and demonstration. Activities are designed to build TEXPO awareness and hype leading up to the main event.

 

The programme is directed at all sectors of the national community, with a programme structured around the following elements:
