GRENADA NATIONAL PATIENTS KIDNEY FOUNDATION SAYS "THANK YOU"

St. George -- The Students of the Events Management Class of 2016 of the St. George's University, are sincerely grateful to all who have contributed to their successful themed party event, "A Journey through the Ages" held on 12th November 2016, at the Aquarium Restaurant.

Each patron received a complimentary drink, hat and sun glasses depicting the era of the seventies upon entry. Throughout the night there was entertainment from three DJs and a live performance from 'Boyzie'. They were also treated to complimentary light hors d'oeuvres and wine during the event. The party concluded with the awarding of various prizes to patrons for their various costumes depicting different eras as part of a mini competition.

The Events Management course is offered by the Business and Management Studies Department of the St. George's University and, according to lecturers Mrs. Naline Joseph and Mrs. Helen Bhola-Paul, "The students must fulfill two major objectives: firstly, they must demonstrate that they have learnt the necessary concepts and skills to host a successful practical event; and secondly, all profits generated from the event must be donated to a local charity."

It is on this premise that the class made a significant donation of EC$6,000.00 to the Grenada National Patients Kidney Foundation on Wednesday 15th March, 2017.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Grenada National Patients Kidney Foundation was Heather Sylvester who thanked the class and lecturers for their hard work and generous donation to her charity. Sylvester said, "The Kidney Foundation is so happy to receive such a generous donation. In 2016 we had 12 persons needing dialysis which costs EC$750 per session with three sessions needed per week. The average cost is EC$9,000 per month/per patient, so it will help us to help these patients."
