ANOTHER INTERACTIVE SESSION ON THE DRAFT LEGISLATION FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTHillsborough, Carriacou, June 24th, 2010 –
It will be a fitting tribute to the late Prime Minister Herbert Augustus Blaize when local government becomes a reality in Carriacou and Petite Martinique. That’s the belief of well known constitutional lawyer Dr. Francis Alexis, QC.
Dr. Alexis, who led another presentation here on the draft legislation
for the implementation of local government in Carriacou and Petite
Martinique, said one important section would not have been part of the
Constitution were it not for Mr. Blaize.
He was referring to Section 107 which states: “There shall be a council
for Carriacou and Petite Martinique which shall be the principal organ
of local government.”
