GOVERNMENT MINISTERS SWORN IN

Image St. George’s, October 7, 2011 – Ministers have been sworn in to serve in their new portfolios of the Government of Grenada.

The swearing in, which began on Tuesday with Honourable Joseph Gilbert who was leaving the state on government business, was completed on Friday at the official residence of Governor General, Sir Carlyle Glean.

“I believe that these changes would be in the best interest of our government and the country at this time and wish the affected ministers the very best in their new assignments,’’ Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas said on September 30 when announcing the cabinet changes.

As part of the changes, Hon. Gilbert – the former Minister of Works, Physical Development and Public Utilities – is now Minister of Environment, Foreign Trade and Export Development.

DEMOLITION OF GOUYAVE HEALTH CENTRE

ST. GEORGE'S, - The Ministry of Health wishes to notify residents of the Town of Gouyave, Dr. Belle, Maran, Central, Waterloo, Loretto, Gouyave Estate, Dougladston, Mt. Grandby, Mt. Nesbit and Palmiste, that effective Monday, October 3rd, the demolition of the Gouyave Health Centre will commence.

NDC FUNDRAISER AT SPICE BASKET ON SATURDAY

ImageSt. George’s, September 27, 2011 – Hundreds of members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are expected to gather in Beaulieu on Saturday for a major social and fundraising event of the ruling party.

The occasion is the annual dinner and dance of the party which recently celebrated the third anniversary of its 2008 general election victory.

“We have embarked on a strategic programme to strengthen all the organs of the party and to enhance our capital base,’’ said NDC Public Relations Officer, Senator Arley Gill. “This dinner and dance are part of the fundraising aspect of the programme, which would intensify in the coming months and year.’’
