MR. RICHARD HANLEY ARRIVES
Bridgetown -- Canada's High Commissioner to Barbados & the Eastern Caribbean, Mr. Richard Hanley, will be in Grenada on Tuesday,18 December, 2012, to present letters of introduction from Prime Minister Harper to Prime Minister Thomas.
Mr. Hanley, who holds a BA Honours in Political Studies from Queen's University, 1980; and an MA in Public Administration from Carleton University, 1982 began his career at the Atomic Energy Control Board, joining the Department of External Affairs in 1983 as an administration officer. In 1985, he was posted to Moscow as third secretary (administration) and later served in Bogotá as second secretary and vice-consul (1988 to 1990).
From 1990 to 1994, he was first secretary at the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations in New York. He returned to Canada in 1994 and worked as area management adviser, United States Branch, and then as area management adviser for the Americas Branch. From 1998 to 2001, he served in Mexico City as counsellor (administration) and consul. From 2001 to 2006, he was counsellor and consul in Berlin.
