HAGUE ENCOURAGES MODERN PARTNERSHIP FOR UK AND CARIBBEAN

Bridgetown -- The British Foreign Secretary, William Hague, has hailed a ‘new era’ for UK-Caribbean relations, as he joins partners from across the region at the UK-Caribbean Forum in Grenada.

Now in its seventh iteration, the Forum will unite politicians and business representatives from both regions to look for new ways of working together and to improve ties.

CARIBBEAN JOURNALISTS TO FEATURE AT IPI WORLD CONGRESS 2012

Port of Spain, -- Several Caribbean journalists will be presenters at the International Press Institute (IPI) World Congress 2012 to be held in Trinidad and Tobago, June 23-26.
This was confirmed by the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) at its executive meeting held in the twin-island republic on the weekend.

Caribbean journalists Wesley Gibbings, Canute James, Andy Johnson and Ken Ali will join a distinguished panel of Congress presenters including Jim Clancy, CNN International Anchor and Correspondent; Catalina Botero, Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Organisation of American States; and Frank La Rue, UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression.

2011 marks the 44th Anniversary of the West Indian American Day Carnival Association Annual Celebration in Brooklyn, New York.  The fun and splendor of multi-colored costumes, and pulsating tropical rhythms from the Caribbean Diaspora energize the entire New York region, attracting spectators from all over the world.  This parade along Eastern Parkway each year is the result of careful planning and strategizing, which help to make this grand occasion possible.  These efforts are worthy of recognition, expressions of gratitude and support.

FREE MOVEMENT OF CITIZENS AND FREE MOVEMENT LABOUR BEGINS IN THE OECS ECONOMIC UNION

Image Castries, August 5th 2011 --  Monday August 1, 2011 heralded the commencement of full free movement of OECS citizens throughout the six independent countries of the Organisation.

Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines had agreed that, from that date, they would permit OECS citizens to enter their territories and remain for an indefinite period in order to work, establish businesses, provide services or reside.
