St. George -- Finance and Energy minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, and a team from the Ministry of Finance, along with the Grenada Authority for the Regulation of Financial Institutions (GARFIN), recently met with the non-banking financial sector, including credit unions, insurance companies, Grenada Development Bank and the Grenada Building and Loan.

YACHT SEIZED IN JOINT OPERATION

A joint maritime operation involving the police and Trinidad Coast Guard has led to the seizure of a yacht.

S/Y Belladonne was intercepted in the waters outside of Telescope (St. Andrew) on Tuesday. A search of the vessel turned up sixteen and three-quarter pounds of compressed Columbian cannabis.

Three persons are in custody assisting police with their investigations.

SYNOPSIS OF DECEPTIVE ARTICLE

"The fallout from a bad decision begins." This was the caption of an article appearing in the March 10, 2017 edition of The New Today newspaper. The article was addressing what the writer considered to be an "electoral gaffe" which "signaled a profound misstep by the voting public," at last November's Constitutional Reform Referendum, when all bills were rejected, by "the mere 30% of the electorate who bothered to show up to vote." However, the writer's focus was the Elections and Boundaries Commission Bill, whose rejection he claimed, has made it possible for the multiple dismissals of electoral officers.
