TRAFFIC PLANS 20123 CARNIVAL
For Carnival 2012 the following traffic arrangements takes effect:
NO PARKING IN RESPECT OF ALL SHOWS AT THE NATIONAL STADIUM:
Cherry Hill public road from its intersection with Ring Road to include all of Ring Road, and, Queen's Park public road to its junction with La Qua roundabout.
Melville Street, from its vicinity with the Fish Market, to La Qua roundabout through River Road to its area with L.A Purcell lumber Department.
Parking for the public will be at the Football Stadium car park and at the right side of the athletic stadium entering Gate 6.
Patrons attending events at the National Stadium holding pre-purchased tickets will enter the Stadium at Gate 6. All other persons without tickets will purchase same at the booth close to the Green Bridge.
VENDING:
Vending will be at the left side of Green Bridge. No Vending will be done other than the designated area.
CARNIVAL MONDAY/TUESDAY ROAD CLOSURE:
The following roadways will be closed to vehicular traffic as follows -
J'ouvert 5:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.
Kirani James Boulevard from its junction with Belmont to Tropicana roundabout onto Port Highway, through the Carenage to Young Street, to its intersection with Scott Street, onto Herbert Blaize Street, through to Tanteen public road to its junction at Home Made Bakery, to the Botanical Gardens round about.
In addition, there will be no parking on top Belmont and Springs Road.
Monday - Street Pageant 12:00 noon-6:00 p.m.
Kirani James Boulevard from its junction with Belmont to Tropicana roundabout continuing onto Port Highway to Burns Point, all the way through the Carenage public road to its junction with Young Street onto Scott Street, to its junction with Herbert Blaize Street through to Tanteen public road, to its junction at Home Made Bakery, to the Botanical Gardens onto Lowther's Lane, with its junction to Archibald Avenue.
Monday Night Mass 6:00 p.m. -12: 00 midnight
Grand Anse public road from Morne Rouge/Wall Street round about to Belmont junction with Kirani James Boulevard, through to Tropicana round about onto Port Highway, to Burns Point round about along Carenage public road onto Young Street, to its intersection with Scott Street onto Herbert Blaize Street to Tanteen public road, to its junction at Home Made Bakery through to its junction at the Botanical Gardens round about.
No vehicles will be allowed to park on the by-roads including Grand Anse Valley and Woodlands public road.
Vehicles travelling to Springs and Grand Anse from the Western side will proceed onto River Road public road to Marrast Hill onto Lowthers Lane, Paddock public road, onto Woodlands through to Grand Anse Valley.
Vehicles travelling to Springs and Grand Anse from St. Andrew using Grand Etang public road will advance through Tempe main road to Marrast Hill, onto Lowthers Lane to Paddock public road, onto Woodlands through to Grand Anse Valley.
Tuesday - Parade of the Bands 12:00 noon -12:00 midnight
No vehicular traffic other than Police, Emergency vehicles and vehicles forming part of the bands will be allowed in the following areas:
Kirani James Boulevard from its junction with Belmont to Tropicana round about, continuing onto Port Highway to Burns Point roundabout, through Carenage public road onto Young Street, Halifax Street, Grandby Street, Melville Street all the way through to the National Stadium.
Emergency Routes:
The following areas will be designated as emergency routes:
From the South of the Town to the General Hospital – Paddock public, Lowthers Lane, Archibald Avenue onto Lucas Street and Church Street onto the General Hospital.
From East of the Town to the General Hospital - Lucas Street, Church Street, Grand Etang Road onto the General Hospital.
From the North of the Town to the General Hospital – Cemetery Hill, Old Fort Road, Lucas Street, Church Street, Grand Etang Road onto the General Hospital.
Any vehicles found parked in a restricted area or on an emergency route will be towed or taken away to the Police premises on the Carenage.
A recovery fee of $125.00 will be charged.
