NDC ENCOURAGES VOTERS TO CHECK REGISTRATION, OBJECT TO ANY IRREGULARITIES
Written by George Grant on January 12, 2018
The Consolidated Voters List for the period ending December 31st 2017 was released by the Office of the Supervisor of Elections on Monday, January 9th 2018.
Under our laws, voters have ONE WEEK to make sure there are no irregularities with their registration. For example, if you are already registered, it is important to make sure that your name appears on the voters list, that your name is spelt correctly, and that you are registered to vote in the right polling division.
In order to ensure the integrity of the election and ensure it is free and fair, the list must be accurate. There must not be people registered to vote in areas where they have never lived. Similarly, there must not be dead people on the list who could mysteriously ‘vote’ on election day.
The NDC encourages all its supporters to check their registration status. before Monday, 15th January. We also encourage you to go through the list and make sure the people who are registered are properly registered. If you see something wrong, say something! Our democracy is at stake.
