INDUSTRIAL ACTION AT THE BUS TERMINUS
Written by Andre Lewis on July 27, 2017
The Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union and the Workers at the Bus Terminus have commenced low level industrial action as of Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
This action is taken to register the Union and workers frustration with the slow pace at which a number of matters which were brought to the attention of management are being addressed — particularly the continued verbal and physical attacks on wardens by bus operators.
TAWU says that the current industrial action can be escalated at any moment without prior notice, and will not allow its members and workers in general to be abused by any sector of society. The union calls upon the Management of the Grenada Ports Authority to get serious about dealing with all outstanding industrial relations matters at the Bus Terminus; and to demonstrate that it recognizes that it has a duty to provide a safe working environment for the workers.
